Smite
Unlike many of the other games in our list Hi-Rez Studio’s third person action multiplayer game SMITE doesn’t create life but pits you against other mythological gods and figures. SMITE lets you fight it out in a battle royale between two teams of 5 players with the purpose of destroying the base of the enemy. There’s a heap of characters you can choose from including some of the more famous names from legend such as Hades, Poseidon, Medusa and Zeus.
From Dust
Ubisoft’s immersive gaming concept gives you the role of a god-like entity as you play from a first-person perspective. It first appeared on the market back in 2011 when it was released across Xbox Live, Windows, and on the PlayStation Network and proved very popular as you took on the role of a god ready to help control the destiny of a nomadic tribe by controlling the elements that threaten their survival. You can play in standard story mode or take on the more testing challenge mode.
Age of Mythology
Released in 2002 as a spin-off from the original Age of Empires series of games this real-time strategy adventure was hugely successful both critically and financially for the developers Ensemble Studios and publishers Microsoft Game Studios. The story involved elements of Greek, Norse, and Egyptian mythology and featured a host of legendary gods and monsters. It was your job to strategise everything from your armies to the gathering of resources. Players were also able to “call upon the gods” to help them along the way. An extended edition was released on Steam for Windows just last year.
Minecraft: Thor Mod
With games such as Minecraft it’s inevitable that we see an immense number of popular mods developed to action in the game to help enhance our experience. One such mod is the new Thor standalone mod which gives you the chance to add the gods’ legendary hammer to the proceedings. The Mjölnir can be added in the game which will summon lightning and rain on call much like the famous Avenger does on screen.
